Young Professionals of Akron and the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce are partnering with the Akron Beacon Journal to go behind the scenes of your local newspaper.
Ever wondered what makes a news story, or who the reporters are that put out the paper every day? Curious about the long-term sustainability of the Beacon? Got a guess on how many televisions are in a newsroom? Reporters and editors will be on hand to give you the scoop, and to get your feedback on what you'd like to see covered. We will meet at the chamber's offices on the second floor of the AES building (entrance from South Main puts you on the second floor) from 6-7:30 for an interactive social event and then from 7:30-8, Beacon reporters and editors will take groups on tours of the newspaper's new newsroom, located on the 7th floor of the building.
Free public parking is available on South Main Street and in labeled visitor spots behind the building, which can be accessed from the driveway off of South Main just south of the building. If you park in the back, you are entering the building on the first floor and will need to take the elevator to the second floor. Any of the 4 elevators will work.
